About & Safety

A simple way to notice patterns

Thundershits is a personal stool-form diary. It helps you record when a bowel movement happened and how it compared with the Bristol Stool Scale.

What the Bristol types mean

The seven types are a descriptive tool for stool form. A type may help you communicate observations or notice a pattern, but it cannot determine why a change occurred or diagnose a health condition.

When to seek medical help

Contact a healthcare professional promptly if you are concerned, particularly with:

  • blood, pus, or black and tarry stool;
  • severe abdominal or rectal pain;
  • signs of dehydration, such as very little urine, marked thirst, dizziness or fainting;
  • frequent vomiting, high fever, confusion or pronounced weakness;
  • diarrhea that is persistent, unusually frequent, or worsening; or
  • greater vulnerability due to pregnancy, older age, immune suppression or another health condition.

For severe or rapidly worsening symptoms, contact local emergency services. Guidance differs for infants and children; seek professional advice rather than relying on this app.

Use the history thoughtfully

Recorded patterns can be useful context, but missing entries, subjective classification and changes in diet, medication, travel or illness can affect interpretation. Do not delay care while waiting to collect more data.

Intended audience

The current version is designed as an adult personal tracker. It is not designed to guide care for children or to document patients in a healthcare practice. Do not enter names, patient identifiers or other protected health information.

Privacy is separate from safety

Your stool entries currently stay in this browser rather than a central Thundershits database. Read the Privacy page for details about local storage, CSV files and deletion.
